Terms and Conditions

We hope you will book with us to enjoy the workshops we offer and look forward to welcoming you at the London Taxidermy Academy. When you make your booking you are entering an agreement with us and will be bound by our terms and conditions outlined below. We reserve the right to change any and all terms and conditions at any time, without prior notice and you agree to abide by the most recent version of this. It is your responsibility to ensure you review these terms regularly to familiarise yourself with any changes.

Workshop bookings are required and must be made at least 24 hours before the workshop starts. You CANNOT simply turn up on the day to attend a workshop. We recommend booking as soon as you know for sure that you can attend a particular workshop to avoid disappointment.

You are entitled to a 24hr 'cooling off' period following your booking to enable you to cancel or change your workshop booking. During this time you may contact us at admin@londontaxidermyacademy.com to let us know that you do not wish to continue with your booking, and we will refund your payment in full.

If you have purchased a London Taxidermy Academy Gift Certificate or Gift Workshop Voucher you have a seven day cooling off period in which you can change your mind and receive a full refund minus £5 admin charge.

There is a minimum time frame before booking a Workshop. Workshop space cannot be guaranteed for workshops that start in less than 32 hours from the time of booking. In the event you will be issued with a workshop voucher and asked to rebook for a future date.

We operate a simple two-step booking process (see also FAQ):

  • Step 1: You select the workshop/workshop date.
  • Step 2: You select the specimen available for that workshop

Both the workshop and its associated specimen need to be in your cart to complete your booking. This is to ensure availability of both workshop space and stock.

The minimum requirements for acceptance onto our taxidermy workshops are:

  • You must be at least 16 years of age.*
  • You must be proficient in English.
  • You do not need experience to attend our courses.

*If you are under the age of 16 you may attend with a parent or guardian. Both of you will require a valid workshop booking and be present at the workshop.

Workshops begin promptly at their scheduled time and you are expected to arrive on time (no sooner than 15 minutes before) so that you do not hold up the rest of the class. Tardiness is acceptable only in emergency situations; we will deal with tardiness on an individual basis. Car accidents, heart attacks, and being held at gunpoint are suitable reasons, however, sleeping in and hangovers are not.

We realise that unforeseen circumstances can arise and our tutors will do their best to help you catch up. Having said that our tutors are not responsible for finishing your specimen.

Refunds / Cancellations

  • All workshops and associated workshop specimens are non-refundable with the exception of cancellation on part of the instructor.
  • Not showing up to a workshop for any reason means you forfeit your money and will not be eligible for a refund or change to a future workshop date.

When a student does have to cancel, the following scenario is common;

The student contacts us and gives his/her reason for cancelling. Every student who cancels is always under the impression that their reason is valid enough to warrant a refund. Simply put, it would not be fair to refund some payments, but not others. This is why there are no exceptions to our "no refund" policy. This may sound harsh, but please understand that when you book we reserve a spot for you and this means no one else can take your spot. In addition, we will have ordered specimens and supplies on an individual basis based on your selection (eg, specific eyes etc).

Having said that we realize emergencies do arise, so we are offering a compromise and the opportunity to rebook your workshop for a Rebooking Fee in certain emergency situations such as car accidents, illness etc.

Please contact bookings@londontaxidermyacademy.co.uk for details. Once we have received the rebooking fee we will send you a Gift Workshop Voucher equivalent to your original booking. You will be able to redeem the Gift Workshop Voucher against a new workshop in our online shop. Gift Workshop Vouchers are valid for 6 months from the date of issue.

In the past, we have had students who kept rescheduling and subsequently cancelling workshops, or students who kept rejecting available workshop dates. We have implemented the "Rebooking Fee Policy" to prevent this. It is required each time a workshop needs to be rebooked.

It is in your best interest to let us know as soon as possible if you have to cancel and rebook. This will allow us more time to manage our workshops. Please note Rebooking is only available as an exception in emergency situations.

In order to reduce class vacancies, there are no exceptions to the above rules. Please be sure of your plans to attend our taxidermy workshops before you book and pay!

We take great care and attention to select the highest quality specimen. Because we are dealing with a natural, perishable product, occasionally; substitutions of specimens are necessary due to temporary availability or quality issues.

London Taxidermy Academy reserves the right, without prior notice, to substitute specimens with equal or higher value specimens in case of non-availability of the desired specimen.

In the unlikely event that we need to postpone or reschedule a workshop you will get more than 21 days notice (3 weeks) of the new workshop date. This should provide sufficient time to rework schedules (e.g. arrange babysitters, request time off work, etc.).

If you are unable to accommodate the new workshop date, you will either forfeit your payment, or you may transfer your place to someone else by emailing bookings@londontaxidermyacademy.co.uk.

Gift Certificates/Vouchers

Gift Certificates and Gift Workshop Vouchers can be redeemed at the London Taxidermy Academy online shop. They may be exchanged for goods of a higher price than the face value of the card on payment of the difference.

Gift Certificates and Gift Workshop Vouchers cannot be exchanged for cash are valid for 6 months from the date of purchase.

If any item purchased with Gift Certificates and Gift Workshop Vouchers are subsequently exchanged for an item of a lower price or refunded, any money owing above the value of £5 will be issued as a new Gift Certificate. Any unused portion of a Gift Certificate or Gift Workshop Voucher below £5 will not be reimbursed.

Gift Certificates and Gift Workshop Vouchers should be treated as cash. London Taxidermy Academy will not accept liability for lost or stolen Gift Certificates and Gift Workshop Vouchers.

Once you have purchased a London Taxidermy Academy Gift Certificate or Gift Workshop Voucher you have a seven day cooling off period in which you can change your mind and receive a full refund minus £5 admin charge.

Gift Certificates and/or Gift Workshop Vouchers may not be used to purchase Gift Certificates and/or Gift Workshop Vouchers.

Our workshop aim to teach the basics of taxidermy techniques to skin, flesh, preserve and mount your own specimen. Workshop durations

Workshop durations are indicative and may vary due to the number of participants and their individual support requirements. Whilst we endeavor to always finish on time we recommend students allow sufficient time for potential overruns.

In the event you need to leave your workshop early, or before you have been able to finish your specimen the London Taxidermy Academy will not be responsible for completing or preserving your specimen.

Release From Liability

Taxidermy, just like carrying out any other activity involving sharp tools and preservation chemicals, poses risks and presents hazards. Participation in our taxidermy workshops involves inherent risks that cannot be completely removed, even with reasonable care. By booking a taxidermy workshop, you accept the responsibility for these risks and agree to indemnify and release London Taxidermy Academy, its owners and tutors, from any liability arising from direct or indirect damages and/or injuries.

Important: Preservative chemicals will be used in every workshop and protective equipment will be provided.
